Tulane Track and Field Concludes Successful Split Weekend
Jan 31, 2026 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. & BOSTON – After a Friday for the records books, the Tulane track and field program continued to rewrite program history Saturday as the team concluded each of its two events this weekend. Three more Green Wave athletes entered the program record book with Bernard Cheruiyot's record-setting 3,000 meters highlighting the day's accomplishments.
At Boston University's Track and Tennis Center, the men were in action today after yesterday's women's events in the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Bernard Cheruiyot finished 10th in the 3,000 meters with a school-record time of 7:49.26. Gilbert Rono shined in the mile, just missing the indoor program record with his mark of 4:02.58. Rono was close to the program best set by Amos Kipyegon in 1998 at 4:02.35. Also in the 3,000 meters, Silas Kiptanui set a new personal best with his time of 8:02.96.
At the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, Presley Wolfe highlighted the final day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Classic. Wolfe finished second in the pole vault with her mark of 4.02 meters, bested only by Western Kentucky's Sohpia Roskoski with 4.17 meters. Wolfe's tally is the sixth best in program history and the 74th best in Division I this season.
Tulane returns to action next weekend with the Badger Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Illinois. The event is hosted by Wisconsin and takes place on February 6 and 7.
