NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to win its fifth consecutive game when it faces UTSA in the Convocation Center Saturday afternoon. The Green Wave has not started 3-0 in conference play since the 1996-97 season.

Â
This marks the seventh all-time meeting between Tulane and UTSA with the Green Wave leading the series 5-1. The Wave swept the season series last year defeating the Roadrunners 92-63 at home on January 4 and coming from behind to win on the road 61-60 on February 5. Tulane holds a 2-1 mark in San Antonio, Texas, against the Roadrunners with the two victories coming last season and in the first ever matchup in the series on January 2, 1982, by a final score of 71-64.
Â
In its last time out, Tulane scored the final seven points of the contest to come from behind and defeat Florida Atlantic 69-66 in its first home conference game of the season on January 4. Asher Woods converted an and-one layup in the final minute to break a 66-66 tie and set up the Green Wave defense to secure the victory. Rowan Brumbaugh led all players in the game with 20 points while Woods followed with 16 including 13 coming in the second half.
Â
Brumbaugh was named to the American Conference weekly honorable mention following the opening week of conference play. Brumbaugh averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while leading Tulane to a 2-0 start in league competition for the second year in a row. The honor marks his second weekly recognition of the season (Player of the Week - Nov. 10) and fourth of his Wave career.
Â
UTSA enters the Saturday's game on an eight-game losing streak after falling at home to Charlotte 58-74 on January 7 to drop to 4-11 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Roadrunners are averaging 69.3 points per game on 38.4 percent shooting from the field while surrendering 77.1 points on 42.0 percent shooting by opponents this season.
