
Swimming and Diving Opens Regular Season in Florida

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane swimming and diving team opens the season on the road and participates in 2026 TYR Fall Classic at the Doral Aquatics Center in Doral, Florida from Oct. 2-3. The Friday competition starts at 4 p.m. CT, while Saturday begins at 9 a.m. CT
The other teams competing at the meet are Florida Gulf Coast, ECU, Keiser, FIU, FAU, and St. Thomas.
The 2026-27 roster for Tulane includes 20 returners and seven newcomers. The team's returners are Layla Allen, Danielle Barberie, Libby Brewer, Lise Coetzee, Nicole Fant, Charley Floyd, Casey Freeman, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou, Ebba Holgersson, Phoebe Johnson, Mary Kate Kupsky, Eliza Lennox, Tannah Proudfoot, Samantha Schoenborn, Gwen Shahboz, Eva Shawver, Marin Shimkus, Rafaela Sumida, and Kelsey Weddington. The program's newcomers are Emma Barr, Kaylee Daniell, Tamara Elekes, Maddie Emment, Lieve Geelen, Fiona Keilly, and Franchesca Sanchez.

Tulane's program, under the direction of Head Coach Amanda Caldwell, was picked for third in the 2026-27 American Preseason Poll with 43 points.

Next, the team travels for a meet in North Carolina from October 23-24. The team's next home meet is the second annual Mardi Gras Invitational from January 15-16 at the Reily Center, featuring teams from the University of New Mexico, Delta State, and Loyola of New Orleans.
The program finished fifth overall at the 2026 American Conference Swimming Championships with 905.50 points. Tulane totaled an event victory and five medal winners in the competition. Lise Coetzee won the 200 free and placed second in the 500 free. Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly. Eliza Lennox took third in the 100 free. The 800-relay team of Coetzee, Andrea Zeebe, Phoebe Johnson, and Rafaela Sumida placed third. Libby Brewer was named the league's Freshman Diver of the Year and qualified and competed at NCAA Zones this season. Tulane also saw 11 qualify and compete at the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Danielle Barberie, Coetzee, Nicole Fant, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Petropoulou, Ebba Holgersson, Johnson, Mary Kate Kupsky, Lennox, Gwen Shahboz, and Marin Shimkus. The program saw four earn a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District ® Division I Swimming & Diving Team in Petropoulou, Hatipoglu, Johnson, and Zeebe and three selected as College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-Americans in Lennox, Petropoulou, and Brewer.
