
Coetzee Wins the 200 Free on the Second Day of Action at the American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships

GREENSBORO, NC – Lise Coetzee won the 200 free to highlight the second day of action for Tulane at the American Conference Championships on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Overall, the Green Wave moved up a spot and are currently fifth with 459 points. The program had seven top 10 individual or team event finishes and 13 point-scorers on the second day of competition. Coetzee has now medaled in each of the first day of competition.
Coetzee swam a 1:46.77 to earn gold in the event and 32 team points. Her time was a lifetime best. Rafaela Sumida took ninth in the event with a 1:49.09 for 20 team points. Phoebe Johnson placed 10th with a lifetime best 1:50.08 for 16 team points. Sydney Mullin took 24th with a season best 1:52.68 for a team point.
Andrea Zeebe placed fifth in the 400 IM with a lifetime best of 4:16.99 for 25 team points. Gwen Shahboz took 12th with a 4:23.39 for 15 team points. Danielle Barberie placed 14th with a 4:25.14 for 13 team points while Mary Kate Kupsky earned 19th with a 3:26.67 for six team points.
Eliza Lennox took 10th in the 100 butterfly with 54.22 for 17 team points. Olcaytu Hatipoglu placed 18th with a 55.41 for seven team points.
Libby Brewer finished seventh in the 1m dive with 249.75 for 23 team points.
The 200 free relay team of Lennox, Nicole Fant, Sumida and Marin Shimkus took seventh with a 1:32.36 for 46 team points.
The 400 free relay team of Zeebe, Ebba Holgersson, Lennox and Coetzee finished seventh with a 3:41.51 for 46 team points.
Next, the Green Wave continues competing on the third day of the American Conference Championships on Friday, Feb. 20, starting at 9:30 a.m. for the preliminaries and finishing with the swim finals at 5 p.m. The 3m diving preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m. with the finals. The events on tap on the third day are the 100 back, 100 breast, 200 butterfly, 3m diving and the 800 free relay.
