
Baseball Blanks Northwestern State 2-0 On Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team (11-11) climbed back to .500 and made it a two straight wins in 2-0 shutout of visiting Northwestern State (13-8) on Wednesday, March 18, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Jude Abbadessa (1-1) earned the victory with four shutout innings with four strikeouts and two hits allowed. J.D. Rodriguez started and went thre first three innings with three strikeouts and two hits allowed. Tom Vincent threw 0.2 of an inning with a hit and walk surrendered plus a strikeout. Julius Ejike-Charles went 0.1 inning with a walk allowed. LuisPablo Navarro earned his first save of the season with a pair of strikeouts to preserve the victory in the ninth.
Johnny Elliott led the offense with two hits. Kaikea Harrison had a hit and an RBI. Matthias Haas drove in the other run with an RBI ground out. Jason Wachs totaled a hit and a walk. James Agabedis picked up a hit, a walk and a run scored. Tanner Chun and Trent Liolios each also walked.
Jacob LeBlanc (2-2) was tagged with the loss for Northwestern State after allowing two runs in the seventh inning.
The Green Wave scored both of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Haas ground out and an RBI single from Harrison.
Next, Tulane opens conference play and welcomes in Memphis (5-14) for a three-game set from March 20-22 on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The game times are 6:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
