
Tulane Begins Outdoor Season in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. – With the indoor track and field season now in the books, Tulane will kick off the outdoor campaign this weekend with the Louisiana Classics. The two-day event begins tomorrow with the bulk of competition taking place on Saturday at Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex.
The Friday slate is light with just the men's and women's javelin and discus events in the afternoon. Aiden Yang will be lone men's competitor for Tulane on Friday as he will throw the javelin. For the women, Sofie Groeninger will throw the javelin. A trio of Wave athletes will compete in the discus: Cara Salsberry, Sofia Caruso, and Quin Tandeih.
Saturday will be a full day of action with distance running opening the morning at 7:00 a.m. The women's 10K will be first, followed by the men's 5K. Field events start up at 10:00 a.m. with the men's hammer, women's shot put, and the men's and women's long jump. Tulane has a strong contingent of competitors across the men's and women's events throughout the day.
Tulane last competed in the American Indoor Track and Field Championships, placing fifth. With the outdoor season now up and running, the Green Wave will continue the campaign next weekend with the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State. The event takes places over three days in Raleigh, North Carolina, beginning on Thursday, March 26, and running through Saturday, March 28.
