Tulane Concludes Outdoor Regular Season

COLLEGE STATION, Texas & BATON ROUGE, La. – The Tulane track and field program wrapped up its outdoor regular season today with several strong performances across a pair of meets. The Green Wave was split between the Alumni Muster, hosted by Texas A&M, and the LSU Invitational, hosted by the namesake Tigers.
At E.B. Cushing Stadium, Tulane wrapped up day two of the event after a weather-impacted first day of action. The Saturday slate was free of weather issues, and Tulane's track events started with a bang as Dorcas Naibei finished seventh in the women's 1,500m with a season-best time of 4:40.59. In the men's race, Paul James Pam posted a 3:56.07 to place 11th. In the women's 100m hurdles, Sofie Groeninger ran a 14.65 to finish 21st. Marissa Gordon led the way in the women's 400m race, placing 21st with her time of 56.51. Bryanna Fears posted a personal best of 1:00.57 to finish 37th. A trio of Wave athletes ran in the women's 100m, led by Zaria Parker and her time of 11.75 to finish 15th. Brianna Brand was 21st with a mark of 21.10, and Bella Carroll was 29th with her time of 12.48. In the men's 100m, three Wave athletes hit the track with Andrew Bamberg's 11.14 placing him 42nd. Christian McGuire was 45th with a personal-best time of 11.28, and Jay Bowles was 47th with his mark of 11.46.
Samuel Cohen led the way in the men's 800m, placing sixth with a time of 1:51.81. Roman Schrader was 21st with a time of 1:58.91. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas added another top-10 placement for the Wave by also placing sixth in the women's 400m hurdles. Her time of 59.83 is a personal best and fifth in program history. The 200m races rounded out the track events for Tulane in College Station, with Gordon leading the way in the women's race with her clip of 24.75, finishing 23rd. Parker was right behind in 24th with a time of 24.76. Brand was 30th with a 25.01, and Carroll ran a personal best of 25.05 to place 32nd. Rounding out the Tulane contingent were Fears and Groeninger, who finished 48th (26.25) and 49th (26.33), respectively. They both ran personal bests. In the men's race, Bamberg was 40th with a new personal best of 22.32. Bowles also delivered a new personal best with a time of 23.33, placing 43rd. McGuire was just behind in 44th, running a 23.41.
In the field events, Cara Salsberry highlighted the action with her 50.54m distance in the women's discus to finish sixth. The mark is a personal best, improving upon her second-best tally in program history. The discus event rounded out the field events for Tulane after it was postponed yesterday due to the inclement weather. Aiden Yang was fifth in the men's javelin with his toss of 53.24m. Presley Wolfe notched another top-10 placement for the Wave by delivering a season best of 3.79m in the women's pole vault. She finished in a tie for eighth. In the women's long jump, Groeninger placed 12th with a mark of 5.69m, and Brand was 16th with a season best of 5.61m. Rounding out the field competitors for Tulane was Dumonteil Cabanas in the women's high jump, as she placed 12th by tying her personal best of 1.62m.
A smaller group of athletes competed at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge at the LSU Invitational. Six Wave athletes hit the track in a trio of races with the women's 3,000m steeplechase highlighting the action. Alex Sharp finished third in the race with a time of 10:26.07, which is now second best in program history and the 94th mark in NCAA Division I. Allison Hall also finished top five, running a 10:40.33 to place fifth and notch the sixth-best mark in program history. In the women's 800m, Tulane tallied a pair of top-10 finishers. Maria Alduan was eighth with a clip of 2:17.52, and Eliza Brand was just behind in ninth with a time of 2:21.02. In the women's 1,500m, Jasper Newton was seventh with her time of 4:29.59. Dana Rojas Vazquez finished 12th after posting a 4:33.95.
With the regular season now in the books, Tulane eyes the American Conference Outdoor Championships in two weeks. Next week is an off week for the Wave before the conference championship meet takes place May 15-17 in Denton, Texas.
