Green Wave Faces Temple in Final Road Battle

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball aims to end its two-game skid as it visits the Temple Owls on Thursday night, March 5. The Green Wave holds a 14-7 record against teams with an Owl mascot in the Ron Hunter era including a 3-1 mark this season.

The game between the Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 26th all-time meeting between Tulane and Temple with the Green Wave trailing the series 10-15. The Wave defeated the Owls in the first matchup this season 77-66 in New Orleans on February 11. Tulane holds a 6-2 advantage over the Owls in the last eight meetings averaging 80.6 points per game in that stretch. In Philadelphia, the Green Wave is 4-7 against Temple with its last victory coming on January 7, 2023, by a final score of 87-76.

In its last time out, Tulane dropped its second consecutive game falling 62-90 on the road to South Florida on March 1. Curtis Williams Jr. led a trio of players in double figures for the Green Wave with a team-high 27 points with five made three-pointers and a career-high 10 free throws made. Rowan Brumbaugh and Scotty Middleton also reached double digits for the Wave scoring 11 points each against the Bulls.

Temple enters the matchup on a six-game losing streak after falling at home to Rice 74-80 on March 1 on to drop to 15-14 overall and 7-9 in conference play. The Owls have lost three consecutive games at home and hold a 9-6 record overall at home this season including a 3-5 mark against league opponents.

So far this season Temple protects the rock better than any team in the conference ranking sixth in the nation averaging just 9.0 turnovers per game. Meanwhile, four players average double figures in scoring for the Owls led by Derrian Ford with 18.1 points per game which rates fourth in the league.

Following the game at Temple, Tulane will return home to New Orleans to host Memphis for Senior Day on Sunday, March 8. The rematch between the Green Wave and the Tigers is slated for a 1 p.m. tip on ESPN+.
