Baseball’s Jason Wachs Named American Conference Player of the Week

Irving, TX – The Tulane baseball team (25-28, 10-14 American), after winning the weekend conference series over South Florida (USF), saw Jason Wachs named as the American Conference's Weekly Player of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.
Wachs, a sophomore outfielder from Pembroke Pines, Florida, helped lead the Tulane offense on the week as he hit .500 with seven hits, a pair of doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs, 15 total bases, a 1.071 slugging percentage, three walks, and a .634 on-base percentage. He had at least one hit in all four games, including three games with multiple hits. He also reached base safely at least twice in three of the team's four games plus recorded multiple RBIs in three of the four contests. Wachs started his week with three hits, including a two-run home run in a non-conference road game against LSU (5/5). He then had four hits, four runs scored, a double, a home run, six RBIs, and three walks in the conference series victory over USF. Among his four hits were a pair of game-winners with a two-run single in the eighth inning on Saturday (5/9) against the Bulls and a game-winning three-run home run in the seventh inning to help clinch the series against South Florida on Sunday (5/10).
This is the first time that Wachs has been named the league's Player of the Week in his career, but the fourth time over the last two seasons and third time this season he has garnered a weekly honor from the league office (POW – 5/11/26 & Honor Roll - 5/12/25, 3/23/26 & 4/10/26). Overall, this is the ninth time that Tulane baseball has been honored weekly by the conference this season. The team has now been recognized by the conference 18 times the last two seasons.
