Tulane Set for Sunday Showdown with LSU New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane volleyball will aim to notch its second four-match winning streak of the season on Sunday as it welcomes cross-town rival LSU New Orleans inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The match between the Green Wave and the Privateers is slated for first serve at 12 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.

The Wave is coming off a 3-0 victory of Cal State Fullerton at home on Thursday which marked Tulane's fifth sweep of the season. The five sweeps for the Green Wave so far this season matches the number of sweeps the team recorded during the 2025 campaign and marks the most Tulane has had against non-conference opponents since posting five in 2019.

Sophomore Charlee Solomon earned all-tournament honors and weekly honorable mention recognition from the American Conference for her efforts in the South Alabama Invitational. She tallied 99 assists, 31 digs, 19 kills, and three service aces across the three matches for the Green Wave. Solomon also recorded her first career triple-double to lead the Wave to its 3-1 win over South Alabama posting 45 assists, 13 digs, and 10 kills.

Entering Sunday's match Tulane holds a 66-23 record against the Privateers including a 24-7 advantage at home. The Green Wave has defeated LSU New Orleans in the last 11 meetings dating back to October 16, 2001. The last time the Wave lost to the Privateers was at home in the NOKIA Sugar Bowl Tournament on August 31, 2001.

In the latest matchup between the Green Wave and LSU New Orleans Tulane notched the victory 3-0 at home over the Privateers on September 18, 2025. Avery Burks finished with eight kills in the win while Zoe Rachow led the Wave with 32 assists and Dayla Ortiz paced the team with 18 digs.

So far this season the Tulane offensive attack has been paced by four players with at least 70 total kills. Lauryn Mack leads the team with 95 kills followed by Chloe List with 92 and the duo of Riley Tucker and Avery Burks with 73 each. Solomon has set up the attack for the Green Wave with a team-leading 317 assists which ranks second in the American.

Defensively, Dayla Ortiz leads the backline for the Wave with 100 digs on the year. She is followed by Solomon with 93, Makena Lim with 78, and Mack with 64. Up at the net for the Tulane defense three players have recorded at least 15 total blocks this season led by 29.0 from Tucker.

Following the matchup with the Privateers, the Green Wave will open American Conference play on the road on Friday and Sunday, September 25 and 27. Tulane will visit UTSA in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday to begin league competition before facing North Texas in Denton, Texas, on Sunday.
