Brian Beshara enters his first year at Tulane with the men's basketball program as the coordinator of video and player development.
Prior to his arrival at Tulane, Beshara, a 2001 graduate of LSU, spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach at the University of New Orleans and worked primarily with the post players.
During his days as an undergraduate at LSU, Beshara was a three-year starter for the Tigers under head coach John Brady. He served as a captain as a junior and senior and helped guide the 1999-00 team to an SEC title and the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In 2000, he hit the game-winning three-point shot to defeat Southeast Missouri, while earning SEC Player of the Week on three separate occasions and a spot on the "All Glue Guy" team published by Sports Illustrated in 2000.
After earning his degree in finance from LSU, the Dallas, Texas, native played professional basketball overseas for nine year, including stints in Beirut and Lebanon. He averaged over 20 points and almost nine rebounds poer game during a three-year stint with Sagesse Beirut before another successful season with Champville in Lebanon where he posted 21.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
Beshara also played with Moutahed Tripoli and Riyadi Beirut. He also was a member of the Lebanese national team and helped them helped them qualify for the 2002 and 2006 FIBA World Championships.
In the 2006 FIBA tournament, Beshara averaged 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds a game including 11 points and eight rebounds in the team's marquee win against France in which he had the game-winning assist.
