2022-23 Track Season: Competed in nine meets between indoor and outdoor seasons…Finished third in the Strawberry Relays in the shot put (9.97m)…Competed and was 18thh in the shot put (11.41m) at AAC Indoors…Took 14thh in the shot put (12.17m) and 14thh in the discus (34.60m) at AAC Outdoors.
Before Tulane: Attended Warren Easton High School where she competed in shot put and discus under coach Alfred Luke …She was top-ranked in the district and region in both those events in each of the last two years...Finished in the top-five in the state…Also attended South Eugene High School and Churchill High School in Oregon…Aided her basketball team get to the playoffs in each of her four years including the championship game as both a junior and senior…Was All-District 4 in basketball as she scored 1,800 career points with an average of 16.4 points, 8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and two steals per game…Was offered a basketball scholarship following her sophomore year…Was the POSSE Scholarship Winner, IB/AP scholar, and a member of the National Honors Society, a peaceful protester for BLM, LatinX and the Women’s March, Worked as a basketball trainer for Elevate Next and graduated among the top-10 in her high school class.
Personal: Daughter of Rene Gonzalez and Miriam Moriel…she has one older brother, Rene Gonzalez Jr. …Enjoys helping the community, spending time with loved ones, lifting weights, playing basketball and dancing…Her uncle and cousin, Felipe Dominguez and Karlos Moriel, were both professional basketball players in Mexico…After Tulane, she hopes to go to the Olympics and later work with her father, who is the Chief Customer Service Officer, at the Sewage and Water Board of New Orleans… One thing nobody knows about her is that she likes to go on drives and picnics to clear her mind.
