Tulane Wraps Up Competition at Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. āĀ The mile and 800 meters highlighted day two for Tulane women's track and field to close out the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational at Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center. Three Green Wave runners placed in the top 15 of the 800 meters with Elena Liano-Rengel (fourth) and Jasper Newton (ninth) securing top-10 results in the mile.

The aforementioned mile was highlighted by Liano-Rengel's time of 4:52.75 to earn her fourth-place result, the best finish by a Tulane athlete today. Newton notched a personal-best mark of 5:01.15 to place ninth. In the 800 meters, Reese Ragland recorded Tulane's third top-10 of the day by finishing ninth with a time of 2:15.39. Eliza Brand was 12th after logging a time of 2:16.90, and Maria Alduan placed 15th with a time of 2:17.80.

Four Wave runners participated in the 300 meters, led by Zaria Parker and her clip of 39.39 in her first collegiate 300 meters appearance. Each of the other three Wave participants in the race logged personal bests. Marissa Gordon notched a 40.26 to place 37th. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas was 44th with a mark of 40.69, and Bella Carroll placed 48th with a time of 40.92, rounding out the track performances for Tulane.

The lone field performer was Sofie Groeninger, who finished 15th in the shot put. She delivered a mark of 13.06 meters.

Tulane will be back in action next weekend with the Vanderbilt Invitational. The meet takes place in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 16 and 17.
