James Jurries Earns National Freshman of the Year Honors

NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane's James Jurries has been named national Freshman of the Year, Collegiate Baseball announced Friday.
Jurries, one of three freshmen chosen, was also named to the Louisville Slugger All-Freshmen team, which was also chosen by the staff of Collegiate Baseball magazine.
Jurries, Conference USA Freshman of the Year, had a sensational season for the Green Wave as he hit .374 with 20 homers, 22 doubles and 79 RBI in addition to stealing 18 of 23 bases. He collected 104 hits in 65 games and scored 90 runs. He also was named as a second team Louisville Slugger All-American, the only such freshman so honored.
