
James Jurries Named Baseball America All-American

NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane's James Jurries has been named an All-American by Baseball America, the publication announced Monday.
Jurries, a native of Lake Jackson, Texas, was named both the Conference USA and Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Freshman of the Year. Jurries had a sensational rookie season for the Green Wave as he hit .374 with 20 homers, 22 doubles and 79 RBI in addition to stealing 18 of 23 bases. He collected 104 hits in 65 games and scored 90 runs.
Jurries was the only freshman to receive All-American honors from Baseball America.
Tulane posted a 48-17 record this season, advancing to the championship game of the NCAA's Auburn, Ala., Regional. The Green Wave won this season's Conference USA Tournament title, its third in the past four years.
