James Jurries Receives Invite to National Team Training Camp

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- USA Baseball announced that freshman James Jurries is one of 33 players invited to attend its summer for the 1999 USA Baseball National Team. Camp is tentatively scheduled to poen June 8 at Hi Corbett Field, home of USA Baseball and spring training home of the Colorado Rockies.
The National Team, coached by Texas A&M head coach Mark Johnson, will play the Japan Collegiate All-Star Team in Japan from June 22-July 1, compete in a US West sponsored Western United States Tour and is also entered in the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan. August 6-17. This season, Jurries is batting .361 and is second on the team in home runs with 18. On Saturday against Saint Louis, Jurries broke the Tulane freshman home run record as he hit his 17th long ball of the season.
