
Tulane Volleyball Falls To Southern Miss, 3-1

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Tulane volleyball team (4-4, 0-1) dropped its first Conference USA match of the season to Southern Miss (6-3, 1-0) Wednesday evening, 3-1.
Despite a 14-5 Tulane lead in the first game of the match, USM scored 11 points and took the first game 16-14. The Green Wave came out strong in the second game as they held the Golden Eagles to a .027 hitting percentage, won the second game 15-7, evening up the match at one game each. Southern Miss swept Tulane in the last two games, 15-7, 15-9. The Golden Eagles have won the last four out of five matches against the Wave.
Kim Sentmore set a career high 27 kills against USM with a team leading .212 hitting percentage. She also recorded 16 digs, 3 blocks and one service ace. Lindsey Bennett had a team high 21 digs.
For Southern Miss, Lindsay Westendorf had 16 kills and four blocks, while Tosha Barnicoat tallied 26 digs.
Tulane travels to North Carolina on Thursday to participate in the Carolina/Nike Classic. In the tournament, the Wave meets up with Northern Illinois, American University and UNC.
