Tulane Sweeps Tennessee Tech for First Win of 2026

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane Green Wave volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2026 season Sunday afternoon, sweeping Tennessee Tech, 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-21), inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse on the last day of the Green Wave Classic.
The Green Wave improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Golden Eagles fell to 0-2. Tulane controlled the match offensively, finishing with 38 kills compared to 28 for Tennessee Tech. The Green Wave also held advantages in assists (36-26), digs (44-36) and blocks (6-4). Tulane hit .237 as a team, while Tennessee Tech finished with a .069 hitting percentage.Â
Chloe List led the Green Wave attack with 10 kills while hitting .429. Riley Tucker followed with eight kills and a team-high six blocks, while Avery Burks and Lauryn Mack each added seven kills. Tucker's six blocks marked a team high, while Mack contributed five blocks making this her career high.Â
Charlee Solomon guided the Tulane offense with 27 assists while hitting .600 on five attempts. She also added four kills, one ace and six digs. Dayla Ortiz led the Green Wave defensively with 16 digs, while Mack and Burks each recorded five digs.Â
Tulane came out firing in the opening set, jumping out to an early advantage before pulling away from Tennessee Tech. Tulane closed the opening set on top, 25-11, to take an early 1-0 lead.Â
The second set was much more competitive, with seven tie scores and two lead changes. Tulane built an early lead before Tennessee Tech battled back to keep the frame close. The Green Wave ultimately held off the Golden Eagles, taking the set 25-23 to move within one set of the sweep.Â
Tennessee Tech again kept things close early in the third set, but Tulane maintained control as the frame progressed. The Green Wave posted 16 kills in the set while hitting .257, its second-highest hitting percentage of the afternoon. Tulane closed out the match with a 25-21 third-set victory to secure the sweep.Â
At the conclusion of the tournament, six players were named to the Green Wave Classic All-Tournament Team. Tulane's Solomon and Mack were joined by Morgan Petelin of Tennessee Tech and North Dakota State's Lauren Jansen, Ari Blohm, and Zoe John. Jansen was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.Â
The Green Wave will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 3, in Jacksonville, Florida, where it will compete in the UNF Invitational. Tulane will face Duke at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, FIU at 1 p.m. Friday and host North Florida at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The match between the Green Wave and the Ospreys will be available to watch on ESPN+.
