Men's Hoops Holds Off South Florida, 75-71

NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) - Waitari Marsh hit a jump shot and three free throws to hold off a late surge by South Florida as Tulane won 75-71 Wednesday.
South Florida (10-7, 1-3 Conference USA) had all but erased a 17-point second-half deficit when Marsh got the last of his 12 points.
Tulane (12-4, 2-3) led 36-23 at the half and built a 48-31 lead which included eight points by Sterling Davis, who finished with 14.
South Florida began its comeback with the first of four 3-pointers by Reggie Kohn, who scored all 17 of his points in the second half.
Two of Kohn's 3-pointers came during a 17-7 South Florida run which narrowed Tulane's lead to 55-48. Altron Jackson, who finished with a team-high 20 points, contributed seven to that surge.
After Marsh's jump shot from the top of the key made the score 76-67 in the final minute, Jackson hit a pair of free throws to close the gap to 72-69.
Tulane then threw a pass out of bounds, giving Kohn a chance to tie the game with a 3-point attempt. His shot was short, but was put back in by Chauncy Asbury, making the score 72-71.
Marsh went to the foul line twice and hit three free throws to close the scoring in the final seconds.
Ledaryl Billingsley led Tulane with 18 points and 7-of-10 shooting.
Dylan Osean had 12 points for Tulane, which shot 45 percent from the field.
