NEW ORLEANS, La. - Dan O'Gara struck out a career high 11 batters while the Green Wave offense recorded a season high 12 runs as Tulane (10-7) defeated Manhattan (6-3) 12-2 on Friday evening.
O'Gara (1-2) retired the first 10 batters before giving up the first of five hits on the evening and picked up his first win of the season. Over eight innings O'Gara struck out a career high 11 batters and gave up two runs.
Four Green Wave players recorded multiple RBI including Nick Herz's game high three. Herz was 1-for-3 on the evening. Steve Shirley had a perfect performance going 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Mickey McKee and Nick Bourgeois each drove in two runs.
Friday's game is just the fourth time this season Tulane has out scored its opponent and the first in the past nine games.
For Manhattan, Michael Lorento was 2-for-4 with one RBI, while Dennis Tranchina was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Tom Foley (1-1) got the loss for Manhattan as he went just three innings and gave up eight runs, six earned.
