
Baseball Sweeps Memphis This Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Tulane (33-16-7, 16-4-1 C-USA) baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Memphis (15-31, 8-12 C-USA) as late game home runs lifted the Green Wave over the Tigers 10-2 on Sunday.
Tulane's 2-1 advantage was expanded in the sixth inning as James Jurries hit a two run shot over the center field fence to give the Wave a 4-2 lead. Jake Gautreau solidified the Green Wave win with a three run shot in the eighth. Tulane put up a pair of runs in the ninth and defeated Memphis 10-2.
Jurries was 3-for-5 with three RBI a home run and a double. Gautreau recorded a game high four RBI and scored a pair of runs. James Burgess hit a two RBI double in the second to give Tulane the early 2-0 lead.
Green Wave starting pitcher Dan O'Gara (5-3) got the win. He went 7 1/3 innings, scattered four hits and gave up one unearned run. O'Gara struck out four, Barth Melius pitched the final 1 2/3 innings gave up one hit and one unearned run.
For Memphis, Jason Wiedmeyer (4-5) got the loss. He went 7 1/3 innings gave up seven runs, seven hits and struck out two.
Tulane takes the field on Friday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. The Green Wave hosts Conference USA rival Southern Miss.
