Tulane's Jake Gautreau is having a successful summer stint on the US National Team even though he is playing the opposite corner of the infield. Team USA owns a 10-3 record and Gautreau has started in 11 games.
On Wednesday, Gautreau tied single-game records with two home runs and seven runs batted in as Team USA defeated Korea 13-5 in front of 1,903 fans at Boise, Idaho's Memorial Stadium.
While he originally shared time with Georgia Tech's Mark Teixeira at third, Gatureau has played firstbase in most of the 13 games. He leads the team in RBI with 11, and is third in hitting with a .361 average in 36 at bats. To date Gautreau has two doubles, a triple and two home runs.
