
Women's Basketball Set To Host Tulane Invitational

The Tulane women's basketball team returns to action this weekend, as the Green Wave welcome McNeese State, Creighton and Florida for the Tulane Invitational at Fogelman Arena.
Creighton and Florida will open the tournament on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by Tulane and McNeese State at approximately 5 p.m. The losers of the first two games will meet in the consolation game on Sunday at 3 p.m., while the winners will face off for the championship at 5 p.m.
Tulane's Saturday contest with McNeese will mark its first game in Fogelman since the Nov. 16 season-opener against High Point. Since then, the Wave played three games in Puerto Rico as part of the San Juan Shootout before meeting No. 10 Purdue in the New Orleans Arena on Thursday.
The Green Wave enter the weekend with a 4-1 record after dropping a tough 64-52 loss to No. 10 Purdue on Thursday. Tulane had opened the season with four straight wins, including victories over High Point, UPR-Mayaguez, Hampton and Nebraska. The last three came on consecutive days, as the Green Wave captured the San Juan Shootout over the Thanksgiving holiday.
McNeese State enters this weekend's tournament looking for its first win of the season. The Cowgirls are currently 0-4 after losses to Texas Southern, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to start the season.
McNeese State holds a 12-4 advantage in the all-time series, though the teams have not met since the 1995-96 season. The Cowgirls also hold a 4-3 edge in games played in New Orleans. Tulane has won two straight in the series and three of the last four contests.
Tulane has a little history of its own on its side this weekend. Under head coach Lisa Stockton, Tulane has won nine straight regular-season tournaments and has a 23-3 record since the 1995-96 season.
Following this weekend's tournament, Tulane hits the road to take on Southwest Missouri State next Wedesday in Springfield, Mo. Southwest Missouri State reached the Final Four last season and will provide the Green Wave its first true road game of the year.
