NEW ORLEANS -
Anthony Giarratano hit a bottom of the ninth triple to push the Tulane (23-5) baseball team past Louisiana-Lafayette (19-11) on Tuesday evening.
The Green Wave rallied in the bottom of the eighth to give TU a 6-5 lead. In the top of the ninth, Ragin Cajun Bryan Sneed hit a three-run home run over the left field wall off relieving pitcher Barth Melius to give ULL a two run advantage.
The never say die attitude of the Green Wave club took hold as they battled back getting one run back on a Steve Shirley single into right center with no outs. A double play put two outs on the board for the Wave. Immediately after, Aaron Feldman kept the Wave hopes alive with a double. James Jurries, the go ahead run, was intentionally walked. Giarratano poked one into leftfield but the diving catch by ULL?s Sneed just missed. The ball rolled back to the wall and Tulane edged the Cajuns 9-8 in dramatic style.
