Tulane Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader With Georgia State

NEW ORLEANS, La. -
After taking game one of the doubleheader 2-0, the Tulane (13-3) baseball team posted a dramatic come from behind 11-10 win in 10 innings over Georgia State (7-6) on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Wave trailed the Panthers 10-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Tulane put up seven runs in the bottom of the ninth, including six with two outs, and tied the game at 10 runs each. Freshman Michael Aubrey hit a two-run single into left, giving the Green Wave a second chance.
Wave pitcher Beau Richardson (3-0) held Georgia State scoreless in the top of the tenth and picked up his third win of the season.
With two outs on the board and runners on first and second, Jake Gautreau hit a single into right sending in Andrew Bouman, clinching the 11-10 victory in Tulane's first extra inning game of the year.
The losing pitcher was Isaac Haynes (2-1). He gave up one run in the tenth after striking out two.
Jake Gautreau was 3-for-5 in the second game with a pair of runs scored and one RBI. Steve Shirley, Michael Aubrey and Matt Groff each went 2-for-4. Shirley sent in a team high three RBI.
In the fist game of the afternoon, sophomore Matt Foster pitched the first shut out of his Tulane career as the Green Wave won 2-0.
Foster (3-1) scattered seven hits through nine innings and struck out two. He is the first Tulane pitcher to record a complete game this season.
Tulane put a pair of runs up in the first inning sent in by Shirley and Gautreau. Shirley was 2-for-3 in the game.
The losing pitcher was Andrew Rush (1-1). He went eight innings gave up two runs and struck out three.
Tulane heads to Baton Rouge on Wednesday, March 7 for a game with instate rival LSU. First pitch is 7:00 p.m.
