NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane (15-3) baseball teams posted 17 hits en route to a 14-6 win over Siena (3-12) on Friday evening.
Tulane pitcher Steven Blades (1-0) pick up the first decision of his Tulane career as he pitched six innings of relief and got the win. He scattered two hits, gave up one run and struck out a career high five.
The game was tied at five runs each after three innings but the Green Wave bats came alive and added three runs in the fourth, two in the sixth and four in the eighth, giving them a 14-6 victory.
Tulane's Jay Heintz was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Anthony Giarratano posted a game high four RBI. He was 2-for-5 with one double on the evening. Aaron Feldman hit his second home run of the season, going 2-for-3 on the evening.
The losing pitcher was Siena starter Justin Knoff (1-2). He gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings and walked six.
Saints shortstop Blake Hanan was 2-for-3 with a team high two RBI and a home run.
The teams play game two of the series on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
