NEW ORLEANS, La. - All Tulane University baseball games will be broadcast live on the radio and a pair of Green Wave home contests will be televised, Tulane's broadcasting partner ISP Sports announced today.
Tulane's 56 regular-season contest can be heard on the flagship station of Tulane Baseball, WRBH, 88.3 FM. All games will also be simulcast on the internet at the official site of Tulane Athletics, www.tulanegreenwave.com. In addition, Tulane's March 2 home contest vs. UCLA and the April 9 showdown against arch rival LSU will be televised live.
"I'm excited for our fans that each and every game that we play will be broadcast not only locally, but also on the world wide web," head coach Rick Jones said. "Now local fans as well as Green Wave fans around the world can follow every pitch. This is just another example of the expectations this year, and the commitment from our fans and administration for our program."
Jim Freeman and Todd Graffagnini will call the action as the Green Wave returns 20 lettermen, including 13 starters from last year's 56-13 squad that advanced to the College World Series. Freeman is in his first season as "The Voice of the Green Wave" while Graffagnini returns for his 11th season behind the mike for Tulane baseball.
Tulane's televised games will reach a five-state audience as the contests will be picked up by Comcast Sports Southeast. The games can be viewed locally on WNOL, Channel 38. The games will also be televised in Baton Rouge (WBBR-WB), Lafayette (KLAF-UPN), Morgan City (KWBJ-WB), Opelousas (KDCG-PAX), Alexandria (WNTZ-Fox) and Shreveport (WNTZ-Fox) on network television, and will reach Lake Charles and Monroe through cable outlets.
Tulane opens the 2002 season on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. with the Annual Alumni game where current Green Wave players will take on former lettermen. The Green Wave officially begins the 2002 season on Friday, Feb. 8 when they travel to Malibu, Calif., for a three-game series with Pepperdine. Tulane opens its home schedule on Friday, Feb. 15 against Villanova at 7 p.m. at Turchin Stadium. For ticket information, call the Tulane ticket office at (504) 861-WAVE.
