Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton
OPENING STATEMENT:
"To start off, if we could have stopped in the first half that would have been nice. I thought we finished that first half with tremendous intensity and our defense was really dictating our offense. In the second half, for some reason we just didn't have that same type of intensity. We had a really tough time putting the ball in the basket. I just wish we could have been a little more aggressive getting to the free throw line more in the game. We just needed to be more aggressive."
ON THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND HALF:
"One of the frustrating things was, we let our offense dictate our defense. We just couldn't get the shots to fall. We took 25 shots and they took 24 shots in the second half and we just couldn't get them to fall. A couple of those falling would have really gotten us pumped up again. I think we are really successful when our defense dictates our offense."
ON WHAT SENIORS MCKIVER AND SLAUGHTER HAVE MEANT TO THE PROGRAM:
"I've been so fortunate at Tulane, this is my ninth season, and it's always sad to see them go. Those are two special young ladies. They are fifth year seniors who really didn't come in together but have finished together. They have just given so much to this program. More than what they did on the court, I love what they have done for our program as people. They will both graduate and I think that they will both wear uniforms again and play somewhere. It is tough to see them go "
Tulane center Teana McKiver
ON GETTING INTO FOUL TROUBLE EARLY IN THE FIRST HALF:
"It was real disappointing because this was my last game. It's something that I've become accustomed to, but once again, it is very frustrating having to sit on the bench and watch my team fight back. They did a really good job fighting back in the first half and played great defense."
ON MINNESOTA'S SECOND HALF DEFENSIVE EFFORT:
"In the second half, it seemed like every time that I got the ball, I had everybody at my feet. They did a really good job, as soon as I got the ball, they were double and triple teaming me."
Tulane forward Gwen Slaughter
ON LINDSAY WHALEN GIVING MINNESOTA THE LEAD IN THE SECOND HALF:
"We were frustrated that we allowed her to have those shots and we got down on ourselves. We didn't really fight back like we should have."
