NEW ORLEANS, La. - Hey guys. What a week, huh? I've got to say that this week was the most fun I've ever had on a baseball field. It was really special to be in our dugout, and the fans at Turchin were awesome. Just when the newspapers and radio shows started to count us out after we dropped two games in Birmingham, we strike back with a four-win week and a sweep of the 11th-ranked Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
You might think it's easier to write when we win, but I'm not going to agree with that. If we have a bad week, there's a lot of stuff to talk about concerning things we should have done differently. When we play like we did this week, though, it's hard to pinpoint anything to talk about except for that fact that we came out to the field and took care of business. We need to make sure, though, not to let these wins go to our head. This week put us back into the regional hosting race, and we need to make sure to stay focused so that we don't get away from that.
Tonight, we go to the Superdome to play LSU in the final game of the three-game series. We're going to attempt to regain our national attendance record that we lost earlier this year. It's not going to be easy, though. It's still going to be a great game, and I know our team will be focused; it's easy to be focused and energized when you're facing a nationally-ranked team in front of over 20,000 fans.
This weekend, we head to Memphis to face a team that is playing really well right now. If you ask people around the clubhouse, although tonight's game is important, this weekend is even more important. We need to make sure to stay on East Carolina's heels in the conference race. Winning the conference championship will really help our chances of hosting, and, with tiebreakers over ECU and USM, we're in a great position to do just that if we just remain focused starting this weekend on the road in Memphis.
Okay, well that's all I have time for this week. Still looking forward to May 11 at noon when my last final lets out. Until then, though, I'm going to be a busy man. Hope to see you all tonight and wish us luck against the Memphis Tigers. Go TU!
Roll Wave,
Tommy
