2008 Holiday Baseball Camps to Take Place December 28-30

New Orleans-The 2008 Holiday Youth Baseball Camp, along with the Showcase Holiday Camp, will take place December 28-30 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The holiday youth camp, which caters to ballplayers with ages ranging from six to 12, will focus on fundamentals of the game, Tulane head coach Rick Jones explained. Instruction will be given on throwing, hitting, catching, base running and the team concept will also be stressed.
Campers will have the opportunity to practice at the Sofio Hitting Facility at the Tulane complex as well as play on two astroplay fields. Each afternoon will feature camp games, where campers will be divided by age and skill level.
The Showcase Holiday Camp is designed for ball players aged 12-18. Each day, campers will get top-notch instruction in the areas of hitting in the morning and fielding in the afternoon. Campers will be videotaped and critiqued by the Tulane Staff and given a written evaluation. On Tuesday, campers will play in a simulated showcase game where each camper will be closely evaluated by the Tulane Staff.
Each camp runs Sunday-Tuesday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Also available to campers 12-18 is a special pitchers-only clinic. Each camper will receive the same pitching instruction that has helped make Tulane one of the premier pitching teams in the country over the last several years. This clinic will focus on teaching the proper pitching mechanics that will allow each camper to maximize his pitching ability. Each camper will be videotaped and critiqued by the Tulane Staff and given a written evaluation. On Tuesday, pitchers will have a chance to throw to live hitters in a simulated showcase game where each camper will be closely evaluated by the Tulane Staff. The pitching clinic runs Sunday and Monday from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM.
