Hammond, La.- The Green Wave's midweek game woes continued Wednesday evening as the club lost to host Southeastern Louisiana 11-9. Tulane is now 2-4 in midweek play and drops to 11-9 overall.
Nick Boullosa got things started for Tulane in the top of the first with a leadoff double down the left field line. Boullosa advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Scott Powell and scored on the next play when Seth Henry picked up the RBI by singling to right field. Sam Honeck stepped in and notched his seventh double of the season, moving Henry to third and bringing up designated hitter, Jeremy Schaffer. Schaffer drew the base on balls to load them up for Steve Moritz, who tallied an RBI on a sac fly to right to plate Henry and give the Green Wave the early 2-0 lead.
The Lions cut the Tulane lead in half in the bottom of the frame after Josh Cryer doubled in Joe Sparacino but Drew Allain quickly took the run back with one swing, sending the Justin Schneider offering to centerfield for his third home run of the season and extending the Wave lead 3-1. Josh Prince followed with an infield hit and Boullosa picked up his second double of the night, moving Prince to third. The Lions tapped into their bullpen, sending Robert Rugg to the hill, to face Powell. Powell hit a chopper up the middle that was nabbed by shortstop Justin Boudreaux but Powell legged it out, scoring Prince and giving him the RBI. Powell quickly stole second and with one out, Honeck stepped in and tagged a single to right field, scoring Boullosa and moving Powell to third. Schaffer picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to right that scored Powell and the Wave returned to the field up by a score of 4-1.
