
Baseball Rallies For 6-3 Sunday Victory over ECU

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team (19-18, 6-6 American) rallied for the program's second straight conference series with a 6-3 victory over visiting ECU (22-14-1, 7-5 American) on Sunday, April 12, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
J.D. Rodriguez (5-0) started and earned the victory. He threw 5.1 innings, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out a pair. Blaise Wilcenski had a heavy lift out of the bullpen with 3.2 innings worked with just one hit and two walks allowed. Jack Brafa was able to retire the only man he faced for the save.
Seven different players recorded at least a hit for Tulane. The team's five RBIs came from five different players. Tye Wood totaled a pair of hits, plus scored two runs, tallied an RBI, and stole a base. James Agabedis picked up two hits, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored. Jason Wachs totaled a pair of hits and scored a run. Matthias Haas had a hit and an RBI. Kaikea Harrison had a hit, a run scored, a stolen base, and an RBI. Tanner Chun also had a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Hugh Pinkney drove in the game-winning run on his hit. Nate Johnson and Trent Liolios both reached base safely with walks.
The loss went to ECU reliever Charlie Hoagland. Hoagland allowed two runs on two hits in 0.2 innings thrown.
ECU scored a run in the opening inning on Grady Lenahan's solo shot.
Tulane tied the game on a ground out double play to score Wood from third. Wood started the game with a single, stole second, and then went to third on the throwing error from the catcher on the successful stolen base
Michael Kalinich continued his strong weekend for ECU with a solo home run in the second inning, 2-1.
The Pirates added a run, 3-1 in the fourth on a wild pitch.
The Green Wave exploded for three two-out runs in the fourth inning, 4-3, to take the lead. Harrison drove in the first with a single the opposite way. Chun plated the second with a base hit to center field. Pinkney gave the team the lead for good with his single up the middle.
Tulane added a pair of insurance runs, 6-3, in the seventh. Wood drove in the first tally with his double. Haas followed with a two-out single to score the second.
Next, Tulane keeps the homestand going and hosts Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium
