Tulane Game 11
Louisiana Superdome
New Orleans, La.
- Saturday's game marked the fifth meeting between Tulane and UCF on the gridiron. UCF now leads the series 4-1, including a 2-1 mark in the Louisiana Superdome.
- Tulane honored the 2010 senior class during pre-game festivities. The 17-member class of 2010 includes: DT Justin Adams, DT Tony Bryant, S Chandler Davis, CB Phillip Davis, WR Charles Gaspard, TE Tyler Helm, OT Pete Hendrickson, RB J.T. McDonald, WR Alan Mitchell, QB Kevin Moore, C Andrew Nierman, DT Oscar Ponce de Leon, WR Casey Robottom, TE Cody Sparks, FB Jordan Stephany, S Alex Wacha and K Roger Williams.
- Senior QB Kevin Moore started for the 13th time of his career on Saturday against UCF. It marked his first start since Nov. 29, 2008 vs. Memphis.
- Moore recorded his first career rushing touchdown on a six-yard run with 0:09 left in the second quarter. His touchdown capped a 99-yard drive.
- Tulane's 99-yard touchdown drive late in the second quarter was the longest of the season and tied the school record for longest drive.
- Freshman LB Zach Davis made his first career start on Saturday against UCF.
- Freshman RB Orleans Darkwa scored his ninth rushing touchdown of the season, putting his one shy of the freshman rushing touchdown record of 10 set by Jamaican Dartez in 1995. Darkwa's nine touchdowns also move him into a sixth-place tie in single-season rushing touchdowns with Marvin Lewis' nine scored in 1981.
- With 129 yards on the ground, freshman RB Orleans Darkwa surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the fifth consecutive game. He becomes the first Tulane player to post five consecutive 100-yard rushing efforts since Matt Forte recorded eight straight 100-yard rushing games in 2007.
- Darkwa finished the game with 129 rushing yards and will enter next week's game needing just 31 yards to break Tulane's freshman rushing mark of 890 yards set by Mewelde Moore during the 2000 season.
- Several Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks - senior OT Pete Hendrickson with 35 straight, senior CB Phillip Davis with 22, senior C Andrew Nierman and sophomore WLB Darryl Farley with 14. In addition, senior DT Justin Adams, sophomore DE Austen Jacks, sophomore MLB Trent Mackey, sophomore FS Shakiel Smith, sophomore DB Ryan Travis, senior SS Alex Wacha all started their 11th straight game on Saturday against the Knights.
- Nierman started Saturday's game against UCF at center, marking the 46th time in as many games that he has played in that he also started. The lone game during his time at Tulane that Nierman did not start was last season at LSU (10/31/10) when he was sidelined due to injury.
- Sophomore QB Ryan Griffin saw his consecutive starts streak snapped on Saturday at 16 games. Griffin is out with a wrist injury.
- Tulane captains for Saturday's ballgame were permanent team captains senior OL Andrew Nierman, senior CB Phillip Davis and senior SS Alex Wacha, along with game captain junior DT Oscar Ponce de Leon.
