Fall Baseball Has Begun

NEW ORLEANS - The road construction on Claiborne Avenue and the progression of the Hertz Practice Facility weren't the only things producing noise on the Tulane campus on Tuesday (Oct. 4) afternoon, it was also being manufactured by the Green Wave baseball team who opened their fall practice slate that afternoon on the turf inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The temperature on the field barely reached the 85-degree mark, but the excitement on the field made it feel like a Tuesday afternoon in May. The entire 29-man roster, the four members of the coaching staff, countless support staff and administrators and a handful of fans made their way out to the stadium to get their first glimpse of what is to come when the Green Wave open their 2012 slate on February 17.
Tulane's fall practice schedule will feature 26 total practice dates, with the team taking Wednesday's and Sunday's off, and all of them will be open to the public. Ten of those days will feature intra-squad games, 13 will be practice days and the three-game Fall World Series will run from November 4 - November 6.
You can get a look at how the team is doing two ways; by attending each practice at Turchin Stadium or checking out the Fall Ball Central page at www.TulaneGreenWave.com. The Fall Ball Central page will include box scores and quick notes from intra-squad games and short video clips with each player to be release each day starting on Monday, October 17.
Tulane will release its complete 2012 schedule on Friday, October 14, but until then you can win a pair of tickets each day to selected games as we announce the non-conference slate on our Twitter page. The Green Wave will announce the first six weeks of their schedule - all of the game leading up to the Conference USA portion - and you can win tickets by responding to our posts.
We will post a clue about our midweek and weekend opponent for the corresponding week on our Twitter page - @GreenWaveBSB - and the first person to "Reply" to the message with the correct answer for both opponents will win a pair of tickets for a game of their choice during that week.
