Woodson Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS - The Conference USA office announced their 2011 Academic All-Conference squad on Monday (May 23) and redshirt-freshman Bowen Woodson was among those honored for their work on the field at in the classroom. Woodson was the lone underclassman to be honored, as the redshirt-freshman carried a 3.61 GPA in the classroom.
A chemical engineering major, Woodson has earned Tulane 3.0 Club and Conference USA Commissioners Honor Roll during both of his seasons on campus. On the diamond, he has tallied a .270 batting average and launched three homers, the second-highest total for the Tulane team. He has reached base in his last nine conference games and has been on base in 17 of the 24 total C-USA contests.
Overall in 2011, Woodson has appeared in 53 games with 37 starts, seeing action at second base and in the outfield, and has 38 hits, 24 runs scored and 25 RBI's. He has plated 12 of his 2 5 RBI's in C-USA play with four multi-RBI games. The redshirt-freshman has started the last 14 games and is hitting .250 during that span with a .364 on-base percentage.
