Men's Basketball Visits Nebraska to Closeout Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. - After winning its first three games of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic at home, the Tulane men's basketball teams visits the Devaney Sports Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT to take on the host Cornhuskers in the final game of the event.
The Green Wave (3-1) got past Bethune-Cookman, 65-55, Nebraska-Omaha, 76-52, and Chicago State, 79-51, in the first three games of the classic last week in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Nebraska (3-0) has defeated Valparaiso, 50-48, and Nebraska-Omaha, 75-62, at home in the first two games of the classic and will host Kent State on Saturday to complete the event.
"It is going to be a heck of challenge here in Lincoln, but I do feel good about how we are progressing," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "That is what this time of year is for. Each game we've improved in a certain area and hopefully we will be able to put that improvement on display against Nebraska."
Tulane played its best game of the season against Chicago State on Sunday. The Green Wave shot 46.2 percent from the floor, hit eight of 16 3-pointers and knocked down 23 of 27 free throws. They also outrebounded the Cougars, 48-23.
Sophomore guard Ricky Tarrant led the way with 21 points, while junior forward Josh Davis added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
Davis leads the Green Wave into Nebraska with 19.0 points per game and 8.5 rebounds a contest. Tarrant is posting 17.5 points an outing.
Tulane is shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, scoring 70.2 points per game and outrebounding opponents by 5.0 per game.
The Cornhuskers are led by senior forward Brandon Ubel's 16.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Fellow senior forward Dylan Talley is posting 13.3 points and 6.0 boards a contest.
As a team, NU is shooting 45.4 percent from the floor, scoring 63.7 points per game and outrebounding opponents by 8.7 per game.
"Nebraska is a typical Big 10 team in that they have some size up front and they will be physical," Conroy added. "I've known coach (Tim) Miles for a long time and I know they will be very well coached. We are going to have to be efficient from start to finish and really do a good job on the boards to be successful."
The game will be aired live on BTN.com (http://video.btn.com/allaccess/) and as with every game, can be heard live on the Tulane IMG Sports Network (WIST 690 AM locally in New Orleans). Tulane will return home and begin a four-game homestand on Saturday when Southern visits the Devlin Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. CT.
