NEW ORLEANS - Tulane bowling coach Hayley Veitch announced the addition of Sarah Forton, Michelle Ng, Natasha Navejar and Danyn Terry after the four each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Green Wave as a freshman in the fall of 2014.
The 2014 signing class comes to New Orleans from around the world. Forton is from Macomb, Mich., Ng is from Singapore, Navejar hails from Westlake, La., and Terry hails from Coarsegold, Calif.
"I am excited for the addition of these four young talented bowlers to the team," Veitch said. "They are each very gifted both athletically and academically. The team will have more depth with the knowledge and experience that they bring along with their enthusiasm and passion for bowling and their desire to compete."
Forton will graduate from Dakota High School next month with a 3.963 grade point average and bowled for coach Joe Berak all four years. Forton earned all-county in 2012 and 2013 and finished second at the Romeo Invitational. She claimed the 2012 Michigan State Youth Masters Championship and owns a 263 high game.
Ng has been one of the best bowlers in Singapore over the past three years. In 2014 she placed second in the Singapore National Under-21 Masters event with a 224 total pin average. In 2013 Ng placed third at the Singapore International Open Youth Masters division and claimed first-place in the same event in 2012. Ng's high game as a member of the Raffles Institution High School was 279.
Navejar comes to Tulane as the Student of the Year at St. Louis Catholic High School in Westlake and was a Wendy's High School Heisman State finalist in Louisiana. She claimed the 2014 state singles title by averaging 205 in the finals and earned first-team all-district for four years as a member of her high school team. Navejar guided the team to the 2011 state title and the state runner-up in 2012.
Terry will graduate from Minarets High School with a 4.1 GPA and she bowled one season for her club team. She participated in Junior Gold for two years and placed fourth in the 2010 Junior World Team Challenge, was a six-time NorCal all-star and a two-time Central California all-star. Terry's high game is a 298.
"These four young ladies will help to achieve a team goal of being a top 20 nationally ranked NCAA team and I look forward to welcoming them to our Tulane family," Veitch added.
The four bowlers join the Green Wave squad that begins its fourth year as a program in the Fall. Tulane finished 34-61 this past season.
