NEW ORLEANS– The Tulane women's bowling team, coming off their first season in the Southland Conference, have announced their 2015-16 schedule.
The bowling squad will compete in 10 tournaments across seven states, with four of those tournaments being repeats from last season.
"The bowling schedule is very competitive this year and we are looking forward to seeing the ladies step up against the top ranked teams," stated Tulane bowling coach Hayley Veitch.
The Green Wave will kick off their fall program in the same fashion as last year, by hosting the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational. The tournament will be held at the AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, Louisiana, once again, and will take place from Oct. 16-18. Tulane will take on three more contests in the fall campaign, heading to New Brunswick, New Jersey, from Oct. 30-Nov. 1 for the FDU NJ Jamboree, followed by a repeat trip to the Valpo Crusader Classic in Merrillville, Indiana, the following weekend (Nov. 6-8). The bowling team will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule in Millsboro, Delaware, at the Hawk Classic from Nov. 20-22.
The spring season will kick off in late January at the KU Invitational in Reading, Pennsylvania, from Jan. 22-24. Tulane then stays on the road the next weekend (Jan. 29-31), when they head to the Lonestar State for the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas. After a week off, the team will return to Texas for the SFA Jacks Invitational in Houston, from Feb. 12-14.
After a month off from competition, the Green Wave will pick things back up in mid-March at the USBC Sectional from March 11-13, with a location to be determined. Tulane will only participate in this tournament if the bowlers qualify for it based on their results in previous tournaments. The Green Wave women take on their final regular season tournament, as they head back to Smyrna, Tennessee, for the Columbia 300 Music City Classic from March 18-20.
"By adding the FDU New Jersey Jamboree, Hawk Classic, KU Invitational and Prairie View Invitational we will be able to compete against schools we don't typically see on a regular basis," added Veitch. "We look forward to kicking off the season with our home tournament with the most competitive field we have had to date. We are all ready to get the season started."
Tulane begins its chance at a postseason run at the Southland Bowling League Championships. Dates and a location for this tournament are still to be determined, and will be released at a later date.
The NCAA Championships will take place from April 14-16 in New Brunswick, and Tulane will need to be in the top eight teams to qualify for a championship berth.
