NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's basketball team (5-4) returns to the friendly confines of Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse this weekend when they host NC State (9-2) on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. CT. The Green Wave are looking to halt a three-game skid for the first time in three seasons by returning to their home arena, where they have won seven straight. Meanwhile the Wolfpack enter the contest on a four-game winning streak. As always, all tickets are just $5, and be sure to get there early to pick up your free Riptide 'ugly sweaters' while supplies last.Â
WHO'S HOT
Morgan was named to the week five American Honor Roll list after averaging 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two games this past week. Latham also averaged double figures in the two-game stretch at 11.0 ppg, shooting a combined 9-for-15 from the field.
HOME SWEET HOME
A year after tying the program record for most wins inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, the Green Wave are back at it again, starting the season off 3-0 at home. In fact, the Olive and Blue are averaging 82.3 ppg at home, with a +19.7 scoring margin. The Wave are also shooting 56.6 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Tulane is forcing 22.7 turnovers per game.
Individually, Morgan is averaging 22.7 ppg at home, up from her 17.2 season average. Meanwhile, Schulte is shooting a prolific 73.7 percent at home, averaging 12.3 ppg.
In addition, Tulane currently boasts a sevengame win streak at Fogelman in Devlin, dating back to the end of last season. The last time Tulane won 10 straight at home dates back to January of 2003.
SERIES HISTORY - NC STATE
• Saturday marks just the third ever meeting between the two programs as each team as claimed a victory on their home court.
• NC State took the first ever meeting in Raleigh, 69-55, in Nov. of 2013. Tulane then retaliated with a 60-51 victory in New Orleans in Nov. of 2014.
• In the 2014 meeting in New Orleans, the game featured 13 lead changes and four ties as Kolby Morgan led with 15 points.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
• NC State enters the contest with a 9-2 record and the winners of four straight. Their lone losses came at the hands of Kansas State (67-
50) and a familiar foe in LSU (59-58).
• Saturday marks the Wolfpack's first true road game.
• NC State is averaging 76.3 ppg while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc. They also boast a +7.5 rebounding margin and +4.5 turnover margin.
• Miah Spencer and Jennifer Mathurin average double-digit points for the Wolfpack at 11.1 and 10.2, respectively. Spencer is connecting on an impressive 50.7 percent of her shots, including 47.6 percent from three-point range.
• Chelsea Nelson leads the rebounding effort at 5.7 boards per game to go along with her 9.7 ppg.
