GREENVILLE, N.C. - Riding high from its current four-game win streak, the Tulane women's basketball team (9-4) will close out the year of 2016 by kicking off its third year in American Athletic Conference play at East Carolina (9-4) on Saturday. The New Year's Eve showdown between the two 9-4 squads will tip-off at 1:30 p.m. CT inside Minges Coliseum and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM. The Green Wave, who will go for a season best five straight wins on Saturday, have jumped all the way from No. 106 to No. 46 in the RPI during the current stretch.Â
SERIES HISTORY - EAST CAROLINA
• Saturday marks the 22nd all-time meeting between the two programs.
• Tulane holds a 15-6 advantage over the Pirates, including a 7-1 mark in games in Greenville.
• In fact, the Wave's last and lone loss in Greenville occurred back in Feb. of 2007.
• Last year, the Wave swept the Pirates in the home-and-away season series, defeating ECU 78-73 at home and 66-51 on the road.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
• ECU enters with a 9-4 record. The Pirates had won three straight before dropping an 82-72 decision at William & Mary on Dec. 28.
• ECU ranks No. 55 in the country in field goal percentage (.442) and No. 51 in three-point percentage (.361). The Pirates also rank nationally in three-point percentage defense (.279) at No. 50.
• Kristen Gaffney and Bre McDonald not only average double-digit points for the Pirates, but also lead the team in rebounding average as well. Gaffney averages 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds, while McDonald nets 13.1 points and 6.8 rebounds.
• ECU averages 69.6 points per game, while allowing 64.8, good for a +4.8 scoring margin. The Pirates also average 40.3 rebounds per game with a +3.8 margin
MORGAN'S RED HOT STREAK
After being held scoreless for the first time of her career, Morgan has caught fire, averaging 21.8 ppg in the six games since, shooting a prolific 49.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc. The junior has also averaged 3.5 made three-pointers in that span as well.
MORGAN'S TREYMENDOUS MONTH
In the last four games, Morgan has been prolific from beyond the arc, averaging 3.8 made three-pointers in that span. As a result, the junior has raised her three-point field goal percentage from .348 to .419, which ranks fifth in The American and 62nd in the country. In addition, Morgan's now 2.4 made three-pointers per game ranks fourth in the AAC.

WHEN YOU GO - WE GO
Tulane is currently enjoying a season high tying four game win streak, and similarly, Vorpahl has produced four straight games with double digit points. During the Wave in streak, Vorpahl has averaged 15.3 points per game, up from her 11.5 average. In addition, the senior is shooting 46.5 percent from the field and converted 14-of-17 (.824) from the free-throw line. The starting point guard is also averaging 7.3 assists per game in that stretch as well.
VORPAHL'S DAY TO REMEMBER
Vorpahl certainly recorded a day to remember vs Maine on Dec. 28. Needing just seven points to reach the 1,000 career point milestone, Vorpahl exploded for a season high 24 points on an impressive 7-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 mark from three-point range. Vorpahl's 24 points were just three shy of her career high. Not only did Vorpahl reach a program milestone and set new season highs, but also registered her first double-double of the season, dishing out 11 assists.
