Women’s Tennis Hits the Road for Two Weekend Match-ups

Green Wave clash at Belmont Friday evening, then Eastern Kentucky Sunday morning
NEW ORLEANS – It's a quick turnaround for the Tulane women's tennis team (2-0) after sweeping its season-opening double-header on Wednesday. The Green Wave are now off to Nashville for a Friday, 5:30 p.m. CT, showdown at Belmont (0-2), before heading over to Richmond to clash with Eastern Kentucky (0-0) on Sunday, at 9 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The 2017 edition of the Wave debuted in spectacular fashion on Wednesday, cruising to a 4-1 win over McNeese before recording a 4-0 shutout vs cross-city foe UNO. Both Naz Karagoz and Elena Muller shone bright, going 2-0 on the day in singles. Muller won by a combined margin of 24-5, while Karagoz won by a margin of 25-7.
FRESHMEN CLINCHERS
Two of Tulane's freshmen in Christina Sisti and Isabelle Entenza made the most of their respective spring debuts. Sisti clinched the win over McNeese via a 6-3, 6-4 win on court five, while Entenza clinched clinched 6-4, 6-2, over UNO on court six.
DOUBLE-TROUBLE
The Green Wave won both of its double points on Wednesday as both pairings of Sade Atkinson/Sofia Kurtz and Kyla Klier/Christina Sisti went 2-0 on the day.
SCOUTING BELMONT
Belmont is off to a 0-2 start after dropping their opener vs Central Arkansas, 4-3, then getting shutout 7-0 at Middle Tennessee. The Bruins boast 10 players on their roster, in which seven are seniors. Last year, Belmont went 3-15 overall and 1-9 in the Horizon League.
SCOUTING EASTERN KENTUCKY
Sunday's match-up vs Tulane will mark the 2017 debut for Eastern Kentucky. Last year, the Colonels produced a 14-11 overall mark with an 8-2 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. Junior Laura Argente led the squad last season with an impressive 19-5 mark in dual play at the No. 1 singles position.
