BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Eleven Tulane competitors came away with top-ten finishes, with a trio upperclassmen placing in the top three, as the Green Wave wrapped up competition on Saturday afternoon at the Indiana Relays inside the Gladstein Fieldhouse. Day two of the meet also saw another handful of personal bests, as well as redshirt senior Alyssa Applebee's Tulane debut in the pole vault.
QUOTE
"I'm pleased to see significant progress being made in key areas of our team as we reach the midpoint of the indoor season. Notably, in the pole vault, Alyssa Applebee cleared a bar over four meters, and I believe that both Mary Carson Pitts and Rebekah Markel are poised to make a significant breakthrough any day now. In the 60m hurdles, both Jessica Duckett and Brandi Hughes improved their season-best times in the qualifying rounds, a significant area of improvement for us. We were able to accomplish the things we were hoping to in this meet, and now we're looking forward to making even more progress in the month of February."

INDIANA RELAYS HIGLIGHTS
To kick off the morning's events, sophomore Jessica Duckett and freshman Brandi Hughes picked up from where they left off Friday afternoon in the 60m hurdles finals, posting fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively and marking the third time this year the duo would race side-by-side in the event finals. With last night's times, the pair now sits near the top of the rankings in the American Athletic Conference.
In the pole vault, Applebee's Tulane debut resulted in a jump of 4.02m (13-2.25), clearing over four meters in January for the first time in her collegiate career. Her mark was also the highest of any Green Wave competitor this season, which earned her a third-place finish in the event. Sophomore Rebekah Markel, Tulane's next-highest finisher, would set a career high for the second time this year in the pole vault, jumping 3.87m (12-8.25) to tie for fifth overall.
Redshirt seniors Jessica Adamson and Mikayla Sonneborn would also have success on the track, coming away with podium finishes in the 800 meter run and one mile, respectively. Additionally, Adamson would set a personal best in her event for the second time this weekend, completing the race in a quick 2:12.14. To close out the day, Jessica Adamson, Maya Harewood, Brandi Hughes and Jessica Duckett rounded out Tulane's first 4x400 meter relay team of the season, finishing just under the four-minute mark in 3:59.90.
