NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's basketball team close out the month of January and begin its home-and-home regular-season series with Temple on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

TULANE QUICK NOTES
• Redshirt junior Cameron Reynolds ranks fifth in The American in scoring (15.4), sixth in three-point field goals made (45), eighth in minutes (34.2) and 10th in free throw percentage (.778).
• Sophomore Melvin Frazier is third in the league in steals per game (1.7) and senior Ryan Smith is sixth in field goal percentage (.514) and eighth in blocks per game (1.4).
THE OPPONENT
• Temple (11-11, 2-7 AAC) enters Tuesday's contest coming off a 79-66 road loss at Houston on Saturday night and has dropped four of its last five games.
• The Owls rank first in the American Athletic Conference in three point field goals made per game (8.9), third in steals (6.5) and free throw percentage (.721) and fourth in assists (14.4) and turnover margin (+1.2).
• Guard Shizz Alston is second in the league in steals per game (1.8) and assist/turnover ratio (3.1), while forward Obi Enechionyia is third in three-pointers made (51).
THE SERIES
• Tuesday's matchup marks the eighth all-time meeting between the Green Wave and Owls and the fourth as American Conference foes. Temple leads the series, 5-2, and has each of the last four contests, including a 64-56 triumph in New Orleans in the only head-to-head tilt between the teams last season.
• Tulane and Temple met four times as non-conference opponents in the early and mid-1990's, splitting those four contests two games apiece. The Jan. 20, 1996 matchup took place in the Superdome, resulting in a 67-59 Green Wave victory.
LAST TIME OUT
• Five players scored in double-figures, but Tulane could not hold off a second-half surge by Connecticut in a 78-68 defeat at Gampel Pavilion on Saturday night.
• Melvin Frazier led Tulane with 14 points and a career-high four steals, Cameron Reynolds scored 13 points and Ray Ona Embo added 12 more. Malik Morgan compiled 11 points and had team-highs in rebounds (7) and assists (4), while Ryan Smith chipped in 10 points and a pair of blocks.
• Connecticut was led by Kentan Facey's double-double comprising a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Amida Brimah had 18 points, eight boards and five blocks. Christian Vital posted a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
