NEW ORLEANS - Following a seven-day hiatus between games, the Tulane men's basketball team will play its first American Athletic Conference home game of the New Year when it hosts Memphis on Sunday, Jan. 8. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse and the game will be televised on American Sports Network, as well as broadcast on ESPN3.
TULANE QUICK NOTES

THE OPPONENT
• Memphis (11-4, 1-1 AAC) enters Sunday's contest with a 2-2 record in away games this season and has won four of its last five games, including a 70-61 home victory over UConn on Thursday, Jan. 5 for its first league win of the season.
• The Tigers rank first in the conference in scoring (80.4), assists per game (18.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.7). They stand second in steals (7.1) and offensive rebounds per game (12.3), while holding down the third spot in field goal percentage (.472).
• Memphis is led by sophomore forward Dedric Lawson, whose 20.2 points and 11.1 rebounds make him one of just two players to average a double-double in The American this year. His 12 double-doubles are tied for the second-most nationally, while he ranks eighth in rebounding.
THE SERIES
• Sunday's matchup marks the 60th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and Tigers, as Memphis leads the head-to-head series, 48-11. The programs faced off three times last season, the last resulting in a 74-54 Memphis victory in the semifinals of the American Conference Championship in Orlando on March 12. Despite dropping a 77-65 road decision last December, Tulane countered with a 94-87 overtime win over the Tigers.
LAST TIME OUT
• Cincinnati shot north of 55 percent from the field in both halves as Tulane suffered a 92-56 setback in its first conference road tilt of the season on Sunday, Jan. 1. Cameron Reynolds led the Green Wave with 17 points for his 10th double-figure scoring performance of the season, Ray Ona Embo scored 11 points and Kain Harris chipped in 10 off the bench. Sammis Reyes grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and blocked two shots.Â
