Feb 28, 2017 | Women's Bowling
Â
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane bowling was selected to compete in the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier, March 10-12 at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn.
Â
The sectional qualifier is an all-Baker format. The top four teams with the highest total pinfall after 64 games will advance to the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships April 20-23 in Baton Rouge. The nation's top-64 women's teams during the regular season received bids into the sectional qualifier.
Â
"I am very proud of the ladies for making it to sectionals for the second consecutive year," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "They have performed well all year, and even though the sectionals format is different from what they're used to, they know what to expect and are ready to perform as a team."
Â
In 2016, Tulane finished eighth in its first-ever appearance in the USCB sectional qualifier.
Â
The Green Wave is currently ranked No. 13 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, the highest ranking in program history. The Wave has won two tournaments this season – at Jackson State, and its home Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational, and placed in the top-10 in six of its eight tournaments.
