NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball faces Columbia in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Green Wave enters the weekend 4-12 on the season and coming off a 3-2 win at Nicholls State on Wednesday, while the Lions are 0-9 and have played six games since March 10. The games will be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and the TuneIn Radio app, and live video and live stats will be available on www.TulaneGreenWave.com.
Series History
This will be the first meeting between Tulane and Columbia.
Weekend Promotions
Friday is "Green Out Greer" night. Fans are encouraged to wear green – for Tulane and for St. Patrick's Day – and fans can receive a green Leprechaun tuxedo-style t-shirt, while supplies last.
Quick Notes
• Grant Witherspoon leads Tulane with a .333 batting average, 20 hits, 13 runs nine walks and five stolen bases.
• Jarret DeHart has driven in the most runs, with 17 RBI, and is tied with Hunter Hope for the team-high four home runs and seven extra base hits.
• Chase Solesky leads the Green Wave with a 1.93 ERA and .227 opponent batting average. He has made six appearances and three starts, with no decisions, and pitched 18.2. innings.
• J.P. France has made four starts, and pitched 7.0 innings in three of them. In those three starts (subtracting a 3.0-inning outing in which he allowed eight runs at UCSB), France has compiled a 2.57 ERA with 15 strikeouts, 19 hits and six earned runs in 21.0 innings.
• Witherspoon made his first career pitching appearance on in Tulane's 3-2 (10 inn.) win at Nicholls State on March 15. He moved from center field to the mound in the bottom of the 10th inning, and struck out all three batters he faced to earn his first career save.
• Four players have started all 16 games for the Green Wave this season: Witherspoon, DeHart, Hunter Williams and Jake Willsey.
• Among Tulane's four wins, three have been by one run. The exception was a 6-0 shutout of West Virginia on March 4.
Notable Firsts on Wednesday at Nicholls State
Tulane's starting lineup featured some new faces in new places at Nicholls State on Wednesday night. Junior Sam Bjorngjeld received his first career start on the mound. Sophomore Tyler Heinrichs started for the first time this season, in right field. Freshman Kobi Owen received his first career start, and played left field. Freshman Kody Hoese made his seventh start of the year, but his first at third base.
Senior Christian Colletti earned his first career victory at Tulane (he was 3-2 in a year at UConn before transferring to Indian River State College, prior to Tulane). Sophomore Grant Witherspoon earned his first career save in his first pitching appearance. The Green Wave won, 3-2, in 10 innings.

Up Next
Following this weekend's series against Columbia, Tulane will play two midweek games for the first time this season. The Green Wave plays host to McNeese State on Tuesday, March 21, then travels to play Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday, March 22 in a rainout makeup from March 7. The Wave then concludes non-conference weekend play with a three-game series against Stetson, March 24-26 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
