QUOTE
"I'm very pleased with the effort the entire team gave today. We had some really outstanding performances that produced a couple of event victories and some second, third and fourth-place finishes for both the men's and the women's teams, and that's significant in any invitational. We're starting to see a much higher level of consistently good performances from several of our athletes, and I'm feeling very good about where we are early in the season."

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY TWO OF THE VICTOR LOPEZ CLASSIC
Potts' shot put school record came on her first throw of the day, a mark of 51.51m (50-10.5) that earned her a second-place finish in the meet. The mark was an improvement of almost ten centimeters on her previous career-high that she set at the American Athletic Conference Championships as a sophomore.
On the track, sophomore Jessica Duckett earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 100m and 400m hurdles, tying her school record in the 100 on a time of 13.49 and coming within a second of her career-high in the 400 in 59.06. Today's times currently rank her sixth nationally in the 400 and tied for tenth in the 100.
Freshman Brandi Hughes set a pair of personal bests in both hurdle races, posting a time of 13.98 in the 100m hurdles and 1:02.85 in her first collegiate 400.
On the men's side, sprinter Raymond Kibet landed in the Tulane record books for the second straight day, this time posting the sixth-best 200m time in school history. Kibet finished the race in 21.58 for a personal best, finishing first in his heat and fourth overall.
Back in the field events, redshirt senior Alyssa Applebee claimed her second pole vault title of the year on her mark of 4.06m (13-3.75). With today's jump, Applebee has now cleared 4.00m or higher in each of the three meets this outdoor season.
Redshirt sophomore Daliadiz Ortiz would also claim an event title on the afternoon, her third of the year in the javelin, posting a mark of 51.21m (168-00) for her third consecutive meet throwing farther than 50m.
Redshirt senior Jessica Adamson would also land on the podium with a second-place finish in the women's 800m, while Rebekah Markel and Caleb Bertrand both posted third-place efforts in the pole vault.
