No. 43 Tulane Women’s Tennis to Compete in Three Matches in Three Days

Green Wave to host Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech & UConn

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 43 Tulane women's tennis team (18-5) will conclude the regular season with five straight matches at home, starting this Friday, when the Green Wave compete in three consecutive days. Up first, the Wave will host Middle Tennessee (6-11) on March 31, followed by Louisiana Tech (11-8) on April 1, then American Athletic Conference foe UConn (7-8) on April 2. All matches are slated to begin at 10 a.m. CT at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.

WAVE WEEKLY
Tulane has won seven of its last eight matches to improve to 18-5 on the regular season. If Tulane were to win two of its three matches this weekend, it would mark the first 20-win season under head coach Terri Sisk, topping the 19-6 record the squad achieved in 2012.

FRESHMEN COMBO
Freshman Ivone Alvaro has won a team best seven straight singles matches to propel her dual record to 14-5, which ties fellow freshman Christina Sisti for the best record on the team.

DOUBLE TIME
Tulane has won the doubles point in 19 of its 23 matches. Furthermore, the Wave's team record is 16-3 when claiming the doubles point.

Sisti and senior Kyla Klier have been rocksteady at the No. 3 position in doubles, winning six straight to achieve a team best record of 12-5.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Middle Tennessee enters with a 6-11 overall record, including a 1-7 mark on the road. The Blue Raiders are 2-3 in the month of March, last picking up a 4-3 win vs BYU, before dropping contests to both Memphis and VCU.

Louisiana Tech boasts an 11-8 record and is coming off of a week in which they fell 4-3 to SMU, but bounced back with a win against Stephen F. Austin. Senior Jazmin Britos holds down the top singles spot with a 12-5 dual record, winning eight of her past 10 matches.

Lastly, UConn has achieved a 7-8 record with a 0-2 mark in conference play. The Huskies lost 4-3 to Temple and 5-2 to Houston. However, UConn enters the weekend on a three-match win streak, defeating NIU, George Washington and Fairfield. Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva leads the Huskies with an 11-4 dual record, all at the No. 2 singles position.
