Baseball Hosts Southern Miss in Exhibition Sunday

New Orleans – After pulling out two exhibition wins last weekend on the road, the Tulane baseball team returns home to host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles Sunday afternoon.

First pitch is scheduled for noon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, as the contest is free and open to the public.

With fall workouts heading into the home stretch, the Green Wave will look to have another strong outing in the team's final contest under the new NCAA rule which allows two fall games in addition to the regular 56-game schedule beginning in February. After this, Tulane will wrap up workouts with the Fall Ball World Series beginning Tuesday.

At South Alabama last week, Tulane scored 15 runs over the course of the day to sweep the Jaguars in a pair of contests, winning 8-5 and 7-2.

While the Golden Eagles are not on the schedule for 2019, Southern Miss and the Green Wave split a pair of meetings last year with USM earning a 12-3 win on March 14 in New Orleans, while Tulane returned the favor with a 10-7 win in Hattiesburg.

Southern Miss claimed the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles in 2018, finishing with a 44-18 overall record and 23-6 mark in conference play. The Golden Eagles went 1-2 to end the year at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.
