Tulane Women’s Golf Finishes 11th at the Battle at the Beach

LOS CABOS, Mexico – The Tulane University women's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday with an 11th-place finish at the 2018 Battle at the Beach. The Green Wave carded a final round score of 300 to close the tournament with a three-day total of 906.

The event was held at the par 71, 6,202-yard Club Campestre San Jose Golf Club.

The Green Wave defeated six teams in the tournament, including Baylor which entered the event ranked No. 20 in the latest Golfweek.com poll.

"It was nice to get a win against a ranked team like Baylor," head coach Lorne Don said. "We really fought hard with them down the stretch. I think we have a lot of things to build on before we resume play in the spring."

As a team, Tulane finished the tournament with nine birdies and 52 pars.

Tulane freshman Isabella Cardenas led the way for the Green Wave as she shot a final round score of 74 to finish tied for 29th with a three-round total of 221. Cardenas' finish marked her second top 30 performance of the fall.

Teammate Jennifer Rosenberg was the next Green Wave individual on the leaderboard as she tied for 49th. Rosenberg closed round three with a score of 78 to finish with a tournament tally of 227.

Tulane also got strong finishes from senior Laura Munoz and junior Haydyn Gibson, as both players posted a score of 74. Munoz finished the tournament tied for 53th (228), while Gibson tied for 63rd (230).

"We really had three solid rounds today from Isabella, Laura and Haydyn," Don said.
Â
No. 23 Auburn won the overall team title with a score of 845.

Tulane will open the spring portion of its schedule on Feb. 3 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
